I opened twitter after a relentless day at work, a day it didn’t stop raining here in Delhi and also a day when I saw the most relentless (till now) episode of Industry to the news of Haniya’s passing away. This, of course, set me off to gather my favourites from her creations from Pak’s earlier, more meaningful Coke Studio seasons.
to where the conversations flow unencumbered, music resides in the air and love, only love, lives in the heart ♡
only relief, sukoon and pondering in the recesses of these songs that are more like ballads one sings to themselves in the alone, small hours of the night, and day. oh what an artistic life, Haniya ♡
Haniya talks about writing Chal Diye in memory of her hometown Islamabad and then composing it with Javed Bashir
"the city you call home, which you carry around in your heart"
a song as old as the world itself, a tune that now lives with us in our solemn (forever broken) hearts, with you strumming on the guitar unafraid to take centrestage
i will forever be grateful to that one person who introduced me to Zeb & Haniya, to the OG coke studio, and most of all to the main man, Rohail Hyatt, whose sets, taste, compositions, everything really pushed some buttons in me and this song reminds me of it all! <3
a song that literally told me to stop in my tracks and pause and take in its byzantine beauty! one of my happy nooks, the places the song takes me, its capaciousness to just enthuse joy in places it wasn't even possible -- all the time with a gentleness 🌱
the drummer on this rendition of this turkish song elevates the beat and aura to a whole new level (??) level with me, listen to this and find for yourself! once again - this could only have been possible under the guidance and roving eye of Rohaill the godman Hyatt <3
just something to vibe to when all of life is being destroyed around you. or maybe sift through the tunes and find some meaning through it all 🔥😊🔥this is especially for those not too easy nights. the gust and guts of this song
really please unsubscribe if you think this kinda cataloguing isn’t up to your standards, please
